Wanted bakelite gear knob, 1960s

Post by Hobbs »

Would anyone be able to tell me where I could find a old style mid 60s bakelite gear knob, 4 speed markings please , there is the counter sunk head and the round ball type , it's the latter I'm looking for , but would consider either

Thank you

They are similar , but not exactly the same as in the 64 FIA car,I think they are possibly a Galaxie or a Falcon , the one I'm after ,
Csx2001 has a different gear knob to the other Cobra's , can't see how to share a photo on here unfortunately

Thank you for trying to help though Clive

Finishline Accessories in the USA list the concave type, but I believe that they can be a nightmare to deal with nowadays. https://www.finishlineaccessories.com/c ... fters.aspx#

I had one from Gerry earlier this year - countersunk head. He also has the correct rubber gaiter and chrome retaining ring. He tends to have most things and if not knows where you can get them.

Hi Grenville
Thank you so much , that is very helpful and interesting, I'd been able to find out that the originals were from a early 63 Galaxie !
Apparently they are very expensive and super rare, I was thinking my only option was to make one , a early thunderbird one is very similar in shape but unfortunately doesn't have the markings.
Thank you for your reply and help, appreciate it very much, interested how you found out the information?

All the best Nick
