Shelby Brock Daytona coupe

Post by agnoraan »

Pete Brocks re engineered Daytona coupe, not too sure about the big arches though and someof the other stuff going on :? Is it desireable or has it lost the plot having had so many changes to an original?

Well I guess if you see it first off then yes it is very desirable, but having seen all six originals at Goodwood it would not be on my must have list, I prefer the original in its raw form.
Early B.R.A. Warmed 3.9 Rover, 5 sp, 3.07 rear, Fully adjustable front suspension with AVO coilovers, 4 link rear suspension AVO coilovers and Panhard bar, Big 2 pot front calipers, rear discs, servo'd, adjustable front / rear bias, scruffy paint job !

This is the only one I've seen with this bodyshape, and it ain't to my taste, but the 'real' Daytonas that Superformance make now are to die for! Pete Brock finally got to make the car he really wanted, see Nigel Hulme's SUPERFOMANCE UK WEBSITE for how they should be!

The wheels always let those cars down - horrid.

Aah, but, the Daytona Nigel Hulme brought to Goodwood is on 15's and looks the biz! Photo to follow when I get home.

I'm not really convinced by the Daytona Coupes. In the first place, they're not conventionally attractive in my view and are something of an acquired taste. They look best in the original form and as a raw racer, but then they're pretty much impossible to live with as Dale discovered. Once you start adding fully opening windows and air-con etc. they start to lose their original appeal.
I'll leave them a race cars and stick with the roadsters.
But while we're considering "Daytonas" a 365GTB/4 would tick all of my boxes.

That's why Peter Brock redesigned things so as the car would be easier to live with in the real world.

This one has just signed up and will be joining us at Le Mans Classic next year.
Looks great in this colour scheme.
