I think I'd rather a Kirkham than one of these, or maybe buy three DB 427's for the same money

I'd rather a Kirkham
Re: I'd rather a Kirkham
Interesting to see that Carroll Shelby stands next to AN OTHER car!
Compare the mirrors (disappeared) and the oil cooler opening seems not to be the same.
It is from my point of view not the same car on the pictures....

I don't think there was any suggestion they were the same car, which they clearly aren't....

Re: I'd rather a Kirkham
Were it that I had £450k to spend on two cars then I'd be Utah-bound demanding a 289 FIA and one of these cooooopsagnoraan wrote:I think I'd rather a Kirkham than one of these, or maybe buy three DB 427's for the same money

(Unless Stoke on Trents favourite craftsman wants to take on a different challenge....perhaps I'd get a discount for repeat custom?)

Never say never Paul, but I suspect you might have a bit of a wait.

Yep....it'd take me a helluva long time to save up £450k too so that's fine

Re: I'd rather a Kirkham
Well, I wonder? 20 years ago I had just finished restoring a pair of AH3000s, one absolutely AHOC concours-winning utterly-standard-as-showroom BJ7, and the second a full Sebring race rep with side exhaust, triple Webers on period manifolding, rear discs, fixed hardtop etc. I found I just used one all the time - the standard car. The race car did odd trips to the pub and was horribly unuseable on any kind of run (something Dale discovered about race replicas). And you can't race them unless you're a millionaire with access to your own race series, service crew etc. After two years and one long drive to Monza, I sold the race replica (to hillclimb champ David Grace, who did race it) for a decent amount and kept the standard car.Tapped wrote:Were it that I had £450k to spend on two cars then I'd be Utah-bound demanding a 289 FIA and one of these cooooops...
Save your dosh - just find 250k for one!
