I reckon Dave 'Aka Geoff Capes' could have lifted that engine out all on his own, Paul if he'd really wanted to.
And let us not forget, it's a lightweight 427, with lots of 'light as a feather' aluminium in the block; he'd have had that out in a flash, no messing with the right motivation.
He just fancies a weekend off, I'm thinking, eh Dave?

Re: Another 427
Hang on a minute, Lee - 'street' 427? Aluminium block? Er...
Re: Another 427
Yes Roger, it's my one significant departure from 'as built in 1965' and unless it's on the weighting scales, you won't notice it, though you might well do it you're driving it - a 65 kilo weight saving is not to be sniffed at in a 427...
I'm also mindful of the heat dissipation qualities of aluminium vs. iron, especially in a car unusually with no hood scoop and no additional heat escape points due to the fitting on underslung exhausts. I took intelligent advice and the Robert Pond Motorsport blocks are said to be amongst the best out there.
Given this is a car to keep, I want it to be as usable as possible and built using the best available parts, so yes, I've gone lightweight!

I could, Paul, couldn't I?Paul Blore wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2017 10:21 am You could have saved a fortune Lee by using a "correct" period 428.
I might put a Chevrolet engine in, just to spite everyone. A nice, big LS3, with some 18 inch, bolt on wheels, lots of red powdercoated accessories, chrome everywhere, paint it, I don't know, metallic orange, with a metal flake wrap stripe kit and some nice big, chrome side pipes and some flames down the side. And a suitable plate for it, likes AC66COB.
On further reflection, I might just leave it as it is.
Happy bank holiday weekend.

Well done Dale - the moment you've waited for all this time.
I suspect you'll be in and out of that Motor House over the weekend like a Blue Tit at a bird feeder.
With apologies - I couldn't think of a more appropriate analogy!
Progress on it's sister car too - engine and gearbox now in the car; albeit not quite yet running...
Enjoy your car Dale;it's a spectacular SC.
