42 US gallons
Correct, 42 US gallons is about 35 Imperial gallons.

Just wondering why the 'built in England' Cobra had a U.S. Gallon tank...

I can't comment on 39PH, but as far as the 427 S/C and Race Cobras are concerned they were "US only" cars, so it makes sense that their specifications were in US units.

Also, isn't "289" (and 427) an American unit for engine size.

It's a round sleeve that the bulb slides in to and the silicone knob pushes over.

Dave did offer me the big tank option but I think I'd develop PTSD after filling that up!

It's also worth thinking about how much modern ethanol-content petrol you want sitting in the tank over winter. I try to run mine fairly well down, although there is an argument for filling it to reduce the amount of air above the petrol and therefore the amount of water produced in the tank as it sits, which could mean a lot with a big tank. Personally I like to have it low so that at the start of the 'season' I can fill it with fresh and dilute any that has separated. If the car's going to sit for any length of time with a lot in, it's probably wise to pour in an ethanol stabiliser.

Bloody idiots, mucking about with our petrol. Please may I have a rant about 5-star?
