It runs!

Post by Roger King »

Still a bit clackety as solid lifter lash is not set yet - they have to be done hot, and I did them immediately after this run up (basically whip off R side cover as quickly as possible then set no.1 I and E hot. Leave overnight to cool and those two should show what the cold setting needs to be, so set all the others to that.
Need to find a way to get the idle down a bit without retarding the ignition, as I'm only getting 22-24° all-in, but it looks and sounds promising now! Need to think about an MOT.

Strange how the phone attenuates the sound level...

I think... that may be... a compliment? Running like a sewing machine? Or a hint I should take up knitting?

MOT test, trying to fine-tune (bit of a distributor issue appeared - damn these date-code original parts), then hood and tonneau, then drive

Once it's sorted - I'd like to inspect/rebuild the double VANOS system on my S54 M3 engine. Bit different technology, though.
