Re: St Gotthard Pass Video
Yes, you were late in the year. They don`t clear the road, I think, after mid September! In summertime it is full of bikes.

Yes, just love the Gotthard Pass. This was my Hawk's last trip with me, in 2011:
Webers do struggle with altitude changes. My last AH 3000 had triple 45DCOEs and in the Austrian Tirol it wouldn't run at all under 2000 rpm. Tricky, when you're stuck behind a tour bus trying to climb mountains at 10mph...

Here's one of the drive up the Stelvio. It's pretty long at around 29 minutes and there wasn't much opportunity to crack along. Also, the consequences of getting it wrong didn't bear thinking about:

To be fair, Alan, we were on a driving holiday... Paul wasn't out to make a motoring film!

Here are a couple more videos. The first one is the descent on the Umbrail Pass, which starts at the top of the Stelvio Pass in Italy and drops down into Switzerland.

The second one is following Roger in his Mustang through the tunnels along the North shore of Lake Garda:
