Absolutely Nik, lets just hope that with everyone responding to the consultation we can enjoy building cars for a while longer. Thankfully its not just the kitcar scene thats been responding to this, but people from all aspects of car modifying and manufacturing. Fingers crossed and all that stuff....

Any more feedback on this Consultation? - Is it still possible to construct a Cobra and have the MOT test based on age of the engine for emissions or is this a thing of the past?

You have until July of this year as the proposal states, but hopefully the amount of response will see at least a 2- year extension, and at best, dropping the Kitcar section altogether. FINGERS CROSSED!

There is some good news on this - the DfT are dropping the proposals that affect kit cars from the new legislation:

Words from the DfT's press office:

Statement

A Department for Transport spokesperson said:

“The UK’s specialist vehicle industry is thriving – it creates jobs and gives enjoyment to many, with products exported all over the world.

“We are grateful to the over 2,000 kit and replica car enthusiasts, manufacturers and suppliers who took part in this consultation. Following their responses, we have decided that there will be no changes to the current MOT–style testing of kit car emissions.”

Excellent news, and thanks to everybody that took the time to respond to this proposal,it seems that for once the minority were actually heard. As Wolfie (citizen) Smith used to say...."Power to the people" :-)

Particular thanks to you, Nigel, for really driving hard on this, without your (and a few others equally motivated and organised) efforts, the result would probably have been bad, bad news!

Excellent effort.
