I think the pound has strengthened so how many dollars to the £ now =1.28?
Sell the house, cash in the pension, sell the Hawk. Maybe not so expensive after all.
Nah, maybe having a roof over my head is more important.

Interesting to save some of the photos to know what the car should look like.
What's the wooden stick in the tool kit for ?

Yes Peter, I've just spent a useful 15 minutes downloading a stack of their photos.
I think that piece of wood is the handle for the jack??
I have an old Elliot screw jack & it has a handle just like that - goes in the end of the square section metal rod thing that locates in the jack.
I was hoping to see a very original dash - but it has some toggle switches, ah well!

Thanks Philip that sounds most likely.
Looks like this car was a batch of 9 that sailed to Los Angeles on the SS Loch Loyal around 18th Mar ‘63.
Of course this was still early days of general production less than 12 months from car CSX2001.
I think they tended to bung in what ever switches they had available plus you can never know what changes previous owners chose to make.
I note that this car even has the Ace style steering wheel.
Try looking at Original Ace & Cobra by Rinsey Mills for Dashboard layout if you think it ought to be the Lucas scallop knobbed switches.

Barry's original 260 has scalloped knobs and older style wheel.
