Just shelled out on a set of 5 Avon CR6ZZ's, 205 70 R15's and interestingly they look much fuller than the P4000's I had before and don't fit in the spare wheel well! Obviously a larger rolling radius but look better though
Going to have to keep a flat spare and carry a pump

They're great tyres Dave, I'm sure you'll love them.

Are you not going with the wide arched look now Dave?

Re: Avon tyre sizes
I am but in the mean time I need new tyres on the wire wheels for this years fun. My P4000's were 14 years old and felt like they lacked grip last year. Rather sell the Avons later than have an accident now.

Re: Avon tyre sizes
What tyre pressure Allan. They put 26 in these.

Re: Avon tyre sizes
Paul, what pressure do you run in yours? I'm running 225-60's and 295-50's but I'm contemplating getting some Avons for the Viper, but struggling to justify the cost as the tyres on there now seem to handle very well even in the wet, the tread patterns just don't look right

Like David my tyres were over 14 yrs and thus getting suspect. I fitted Avons with 215 x 60 fronts and 245 x 60 rears and noticed an immediate benefit. Having them fitted at Avon they recommend pressures nearer 30 although they agreed my old tyres running at 24 front and 20 rear were wearing evenly. Latest status is running pressures at 25 front and rear and a softening off of the dampers to compensate. Definitely getting better.
Only negative is that following the mid Wales trip and numerous freshly gritted roads I now need to respray the front of the rear arches as the sticky Avons like to chuck up more road muck. Now looking for a local supplier to fit 3M film to cover the area after I've had it sprayed.
As Paul said in an earlier forum post you won't regret using the Avons giving you a lot more confidence half way through the corner.

Re: Avon tyre sizes
Avon recommended 28psi, which is what I ran the Goodyears at, but I think I may have dropped to 26 all round. I'm running 245 fronts and 295 rears.
