Just got some photos back from Simtrim in Spalding - very pleased with the finished items. I gave them a pile of photos of original weathergear and they have copied it as closely as possible. All stitching is in the correct positions as far as I can ascertain, and the fit looks pretty good. No creases in the Everflex and the even the rear window is pretty flat.

Roger,
That looks very good. It is a much better fit than mine, but then mine is 27 years old.
It looks as though it will keep out a lot of the water that mine lets in.
I will be interested to hear how much it flaps between the top of the screen and the first hoop - I have a seperate frame I put under the roof on mine to stop the flapping.

Looks great Roger. Very neat.
Really want to ask the cost but suspect I already know the answer!

Re: New hood and tonneau
That looks like they've done a great job Roger.
I might get them to do a new tonneau cover for mine. Mine's okay, but it's nowhere near as neat as yours. Having said that, if probably cost a fraction of what yours has.
I'll some more details from you tomorrow.
Bye for now.

Re: New hood and tonneau
Nope, full forensic analysis was done on the originals and it turns out ACs used a particularly cheap brand of black thread which fades to brown. Had this from two owners in the US, long term owners of cars that still have the original weathergear. Also close study of 6029 confirms this.
I've gone with a better quality black (it's all you can get now anyway).

Bearing in mind the attention to detail when do you add the patina to make it look original ?

Great job Roger, think it's probably too good for my car. Just wondering whether anyone knows somewhere near West Sussex that can make one for me ?
Re: New hood and tonneau
There is a small company just up the road from me who make covers for Lotus sevens... http://www.softbitsforsevens.co.uk/
Not sure they have ever made hood for cobra's but might be worth a call..
You could pop in for a brew if your passing

I used the trimmer recommended by Gerry which I'm sure was in Sussex.
Let me hunt out the name and I'll come back to you.
