It's not the best time of the year to be selling an open top car, and if it is as good as you say, then it certainly seems under priced.

This is taken from an article in the Spring edition of the newsletter written by Gerry Hawkridge:-

"I am often asked to give insurance valuations on members cars. It seems
that values are increasing , possibly more than many are aware. The most
recent examples have been Bill Telford's car and David Large's Car.

It is difficult or even impossible to give a general 'rock solid' value,
as it really depends on what someone will pay on the day, as well as of
course spec., history and Condition. etc.

The following is intended as a guide only, and is influenced by prices
cars seem to be fetching in the current market. We have seen cars at
dealers, advertised for even more.

However, as a basis, suggested agreed insurance values should be around
the following. Assuming cars are in good condition. Concours cars, would
command higher prices.

Brand new build cars, low mileage cars etc., would all affect these
figures of course. As will state of engine tune

BRA, with Rover V8, £25,000 to £30,000

Hawk 289 with Rover / MGB based susp. £35,000 to £40,000

With IRS add £3,000

Hawk 289 with Ford/MGB based susp. £40,000 to £45,000

With IRS add £3,000

FIA or Le Mans add £3,000

Hawk Ace replicas seeem to be on the increase - £30,000 to £35,000
--- possibly even £40,000 for a really nice example, as they seem to
be very sought after.

Aluminium cars - Hawk Kirkhams, Kirkhams etc. Around £100,000 -
£120,000, or plus if detailing is correct and built with all
original spec. motors, suspension etc., , which interestingly is around
Mk4 AC prices. Interestingly, Rhona turned down £150,000 for her Hawk Mk3.

Fia 289 cars, especially if built to correct oriinal spec. , are
fetching in excess of £150,000 because of demand for race cars.

There may well be other factors that increase values of some of these
cars. This is only intended as a guide to members."
Cheers, Clive.
