Lets hope the new owner checks it out the legality with the DVLA before parting with that amount of cash.
Mind you don’t forget that numerous old cars were modified dramatically over the years. Up for auction this week end is a Bentley Le Mans replica.
Yes, it still has the original Bentley chassis but has been re bodied three times during its life. Left the factory as a 4 seater tourer, then had the body changed to an Alvis, then rebodied again with a Vanden Plas body and more recently ( 2011) converted again to be a replica of a Le Mans Blower Bentley. Expected price £750K to £875K.
I think 2018 will be Interesting!

Re: 289 Alloy
Just noticed another error. It’s not an FIA model - the doors are not cut away.

Re: 289 Alloy
It`s got an FiA HTP(Historical Technical Passport), rather than being an FiA Replica, allowing it to compete in Period F (1962-`65)races.

Re: 289 Alloy

It looks like there's no reason you can't charge £285,000 for your car when you get if finished Nige.
Maybe you'll need an 'original' badge or ashtray....

Finally sorted Dax 'AC 289' after 4 years in the wilderness.
Re: 289 Alloy
Hi james, unfortuantely, there's no way on this planet my car, once finished would be worth anything close to that, even with an AC ashtray . Dave Brookes cars being a case in point
