While working on my car, I think I have damaged the speedo sender.
It’s the type that reads magnets on the propshaft (Hall effect?) and it was purchased from Europa in 2007. Sadly the no longer supply the same sender but it has been “superseded” by a Different sender that needs to positioned near the propshaft U/J apparently. Also it has 3 wires instead of the existing 2 wire setup. Can anyone suggest where I can by a sender triggered by magnets or if not, how I wire the 3 wire sender?
As always, any advice appreciated.

Re: Magnetic speedo sensor
Hi Simon,
Can you not use the drive from the gearbox? It would be far more reliable.

Re: Magnetic speedo sensor
Hi Clive, I’d never thought of that to be honest. I’ve managed to find a replacement sensor (RS components) but I’ll look at that. It’s a T5 gearbox so I guess it may have an output port.....

Re: Magnetic speedo sensor
I have one in my T5 gearbox.
It is mounted to the left of the gearbox close to the gearlever.

Is anybody running a T5 gearbox with mechanical speedo drive?

Re: Magnetic speedo sensor
I was thinking of using a cable drive speedo so the actual speedo would be more authentic, but never got round to it. Perhaps one day!

Yes Migge, I do!
Re: Magnetic speedo sensor
Okay Karl,
I think it's very difficult to find the speedo drive for sale. Do you have a supplierer?
