Just on the off chance that someone has a Rover engine oil pump priming tool that I can borrow for beer tokens. I'm at Silverstone this weekend if that helps.
Cheers

Re: Rover engine priming tool
I’ll take a look Stu. I used to have one but no longer have the need. No promises but if I can find it you can have it.
Alternatively you could strip the main shaft out of an old dizzy and use that.

I thought that the normal practise was to put a little Vaseline into the oil pump to ensure quicker oil pressure. I just cranked it over with the plugs out to get a few extra revs.
For the rebuild later this year V8Developments will be taking care of that as well as running the new camshaft in which I didn’t do 20 years ago.

Re: Rover engine priming tool
I guess that’s fine if you are stripping the oil pump but if not the drill attachment makes a good alternative.
I’ve had the engine and gearbox out over the last 12 months but didn’t want to get the sump off, oil pump out, new gaskets etc etc. A ford based drill attachment did the job fine.

Re: Rover engine priming tool
Don't think you will get any oil pressure unless the pump is primed with vaseline, at least that was my experience on my old Rover.
On first run, I did both: vaseline in the pump, and then onto the dizzyhole and drill to get oil up to the rockers,
Let me know if you want me to have a look for my old Rover priming tool if the above option doesn't pan out.
