I'm about to fit one of Gerry's "replica T bar" gear sticks onto my LT77 gearbox.
The existing shaft is 13mm diameter and 6" long. I would like the knob ideally to be about 1/2" lower than it is currently.
Gerry's stick is 5" long and 3/4" diam (19mm) with a hole 1 1/2" deep for the existing shaft to locate. The hole is only 10mm diam so I've bored it out to 13mm leaving a 3mm wall.
So I reckon I need to chop 4" off the existing shaft leaving just 2".
Does this sound about right? I don't mean the maths, I mean is this what people generally do? Is the 3mm wall strong enough?
Many thanks
Phil.
Replica gear stick.
Re: Replica gear stick.
3mm is pretty enough.
Or mill down the 13mm to 10 mm, enough too

Re: Replica gear stick.
Thanks Migge, that's reassuring.
