Hawk pedal box

Post by simonjrwinter »

Just took the pedal box out of my hawk. It’s been fitted several years ago by the PO but not connected up.
The master cylinders look to be as new and after checking it all over (for safety’s sake) I will re-install it.
The pivot points of the brake and clutch pedals seem to be very close to the floor. Is it advisable to put something under the main body of the pedal box (say, a plate of Ali a few mm thick) to raile the rotating parts above the bare fiberglass?

I'm not sure about raising the pedal box, but one thing I would suggest is to grease the spindle that the pedals pivot on. One time after being caught out in a downpour with no hood, when I went to the car a few weeks later the brake pedal wouldn't fully release as it had started to seize due to rust forming on the spindle.
Cheers, Clive.

(If I'm not here I'm in my workshop or on the golf course!)

Confirm mine sits straight onto the floor and no signs of corrosion after 22 years. I will give it a quick dose of WD40 tomorrow in view of Clive’s comment.
