More Hawk seats for sale

Post by Michaels Garage »

I have a pair of Hawk black leather seats for sale.
I bought the ones advertised recently at THT but I’m too tall for these even with no runners on them.
I think I’m going to have to look for some Kirkey style race seats so I can get low enough.

I’m not sure how to post photos of them so I’ve created an eBay listing with photos if anyone is interested in them.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/22587539432 ... edia=COPY
Feel free to make me an offer here for them and I can delist them on eBay if required.
Or alternatively make a bid and grab yourself a bargain.

Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael,
I bought the red ones. They too are a bit too high but I like them. Looks like the drivers seat has had some padding pulled out.
I made my own which is perfect (height wise) and you're sat on the floor. just looks a bit naff at the minute but is comfy enough for 300 mile round trip.
Have you seen these? It's what inspired me to make my own. Try ebay search: Aluminium Bucket Seat, Low Top Bomber Blank Back - x1 - Classic, Retro, Mini, VW
They're made by Joshua Leech. I bet they're easy to trim - maybe even use the leather of the seats you have?
FYI, I measure a real Cobra scuttle to floor and it's 2" more than a Hawk so you really do need to sit on the floor for more authentic driving experience - in my humble (but measured) opinion.
Where are you located? You're welcome to try my seat shell for size.

Hi Stuart, Thanks for the heads up on the eBay ones. I’d not seen those before, they look kind of similar to a kirkey.
I have my eye on a kirkey new old stock seat which is already trimmed.
I agree, the floor could do with being lowered to be right.
Sat in the floor with a cushion behind me is about right for me.
Thanks for the offer, I’m up in Carlisle.

Not too far then. I'm in Goathland next weekend if you're anywhere near or I could ask David who's in Pickering if he can hold on to it for you?
Have you tried the Kirkey? They are quite deep sided. The Real 289 I sat in had a Tillet which was comfy and snug once in but a bit cumbersome to climb into.

Unfortunately I’m working next weekend.
Do you have any idea what the seats are that were in the 289 FIA at the NEC classic show last weekend?
