What are people’s thoughts on this example?
Seems value for a THT car.

EBay Hawk
Re: EBay Hawk
I can't get the reason for mounting everything together to replicate a 289 and then not putting a proper V8 in. There are fine kitcars out there with fine 4 cylinder engines but in a Cobra?
Re: EBay Hawk
I can only guess that the owner continued down the MGB route without converting from the original 1800. I notice that the doors still need trimming and I’m not sure on the dash layout. If it had a V8 of course it would be worth a chunk more.

Re: EBay Hawk
Of course it would cost a bit more too with a V8 and accompanying peripherals.
There’s no reason why you couldn’t buy this and make it your own. It’s probably a bit too costly for modifying but THT prepare the cars and provide warranty for them.
Most attention you get is on sight, very few people see under the bonnet.
Good buy in my opinion.

Re: EBay Hawk
I think it's a really nice looking car for the price.
I wonder if the original intention was to build it as a Rudd Ace, as apart from a few cosmetics like the side vents and badges, it could pass for that model. And that MG engine may not be a straight 6 but it looks 'period' and lends itself to a lot of performance mods.
Now if I took the 2.6 out of my Zephyr....hmmm

Re: EBay Hawk
An Ace has other wheel arches, no angular edges.
Re: EBay Hawk
Just seen the THT video on youtube, looks well and sounds alright actually.
If anyone has an SBF and box knocking around it would be a quick little project.

Looks lovely to me, if I wasn’t building my own I’d buy it , looks like loads of fun.
Not a bad price if you consider just the price of the kit and the screen.

Re: EBay Hawk
Not sure I would call a change to a Ford lump a quick change. In addition to the engine and gear box you would need to weld on new engine mountings, and probably modify the gearbox support. New propshaft , exhaust system complete with manifolds as the 1800 system would be a bit small. Also new front springs to take the extra weight. Bigger brakes? Modify the transmission tunnel and carpet to reflect different location of the gear stick.
THT obviously think it would be circa £10K to make that change and they are probably correct.

Re: EBay Hawk
Sure, not far off, I just did mine last year. Already had the brakes and uprated suspension.
My tranny tunnel's a bit patchy at the moment but I matched up the pile and you cant really see it.
Don't forget the rad, fuel pump,
Still quicker than building one from scratch.
